The Last Post of 2003...

I realised I haven't been listening to the radio this year... I hardly know what is Evanescence... *Sigh* Why does radio suck so?

Hmm... I don't like Missy Eliot songs... nor those cheap pop acts (e.g. Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, etc..). I want Radiohead... and Coldplay! "Electrical Storm" by U2 was in 61th position.

I'm listening to the Top 98 of the year on Power 98FM. In fourth place is Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You". I like it. In third place is Daniel Bedingfield's *shudder* "If You're Not The One". Okay... well I think it's okay! What a slow ballad. First Runner Up is Black Eyed Peas... with "Where Is the love". Oh great. I'm tired of rap songs. This reminds me of 1997's "I'll C U When U Get There" by Coolio. How is rap different from chanting? Phew, at least this particular song has a pleasant melody.

The first song is... Evanescence "Bring Me To Life". Oh drat! This must be the first time I heard the full song... aside from that stupid !@# car commercial. OK - Let me comment. This song is of epic proportions. The nature of it is from the "Daredevil" OST. Which means it has to rock. Well it does. But I just don't like the rough guitar distortion... making it sound like a nightmare. I had listened to Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory until I got sick of it. This serves as a reminder.

Closing the chapter on 2003... I must say, tis' been a year. Much of these 365 days I have spent stressed out by examinations and the Big gruelling O's. The nightmare is over, and just like Frodo in the Return of the King, I never know when it will end. I feel not relief, but perhaps a sense of loss. "How do we return to our normal lives back in the Shire?" I have learnt a lot though from the LOTR film... Galadriel said, "This task was appointed to you, and if you do not find a way, no one will", which strikes me as something I should have known 2 years ago. Samwise Gangee said that there would be light at the end of the tunnel - and is there? The friends that I have made during the past month... sets a new record for myself! I start to hope - and believe. For hope is very human.

I have thus also closed the chapter on the Lord of the Rings, which had been a major influence in the past two years - in my dreams, escapism... I must start opening up my mind, and opening my heart to others, in reality. Yes, that would be my 2004 New Year's resolution. 2 mins to go.

The worst thing is for the machine to screw up on this and everything on this post gets deleted...

Where? JC? No. Me is going CI, which is a 3 year pre-u course. Toh Tuck Campus (Science), Millenia Institute... yah? :p
